Retro Editorial Still Life Aesthetic Style

A short style formula rather than a runnable prompt: retro editorial still life built on low-saturation pastel, vintage grain and restrained negative space. Four reference images.

Third post in this series from 橘子多 (@hann7712), and it follows the same shape as the other two: a style formula, not a prompt.

The subject this time is retro editorial still life, defined by three lines:

  • Aesthetic: retro editorial still life (复古编辑静物美学)
  • Treatment: low-saturation pastel + vintage grain + restrained negative space (低饱和粉彩 + 复古颗粒 + 克制留白)
  • Closing line: quiet, but not ordinary (安静,但并不普通)

That last line is the one worth keeping. It's a guard against the obvious failure mode of this kind of brief — still life with soft colour and grain very easily slides into bland, and "quiet but not ordinary" is a reminder that restraint still has to leave something behind.

Same caveat as the other two from this account: there is no runnable prompt here. No model named, no parameters, no negative prompt. What you get is an aesthetic direction in three lines plus four images that show what it looks like.

The practical way to use it is to lift the three ingredients into a prompt of your own, or feed these images to a model as style references and describe the look in your own words.

The formula in plain English:

Retro editorial still life aesthetic.
Low-saturation pastel palette.
Vintage film grain.
Restrained negative space.
Quiet, but not ordinary.

A small note on the original: all four images are 941 x 1672, vertical. This is the third entry from this account in the collection — the other two cover Japanese minimalist lifestyle illustration and autumn menswear — and the three share the same format: a subject line, a short treatment line, and four reference images.
